What Reviews Say

57 reviews analyzed

Colonial Kennels is a beloved family-run facility with an exceptional 43/57 five-star rating. The overwhelming majority praise Deb and her team for individualized care, patience with anxious/shy dogs, and excellent socialization programs. Multiple long-term customers (10-25 years) highlight the personalized attention and photo/video updates. One serious red flag exists: a detailed 1-star review describes a dog injury from rough play with larger dogs despite explicit owner instructions, with unsatisfactory owner response. This single incident significantly impacts the safety score but represents an outlier in otherwise glowing reviews.

Worth noting

Dog injured during rough play with larger dog despite owner explicitly stating dog fears larger dogs on intake form

You just said he didn't like bigger dogs. You didn't say NOT to put him with them. This is what I was told by the owner after she returned my 12 year old dog with a bite on his ear sustained during rough play with a dog larger than him.
