What Reviews Say

54 reviews analyzed

Hillside Kennels enjoys overwhelmingly positive reviews (85% 5-star) with particular praise for friendly staff, affordable pricing, and quality facility design with individual runs. However, there are serious red flags including two high-severity incidents involving injuries (bloody paw pads, grooming burns) and a tragic case of an elderly dog declining health. Grooming quality is inconsistent, with some negative reviews about hair cutting. The owner responds professionally to about half of reviews, typically within days. Repeat customers are common, with many clients using the facility for years.

Worth noting

Elderly dog returned emaciated, matted, confused, died within 60 hours of pickup

When we collected him, he was emaciated, his fur matted, confused, smelled and could barely walk... He died within 60 hours of picking him up.

Dog returned with bloody paw pads from nail trimming, staff was defensive

My older dog came back to me cowering and with bloody paw pads. His nails were trimmed so short it was insane. When i asked if they trimmed them, everybody got VERY defensive

Grooming caused skin injury - hair cut too short burned dog's skin

They cut the dogs hair so short that it burned her skin.

His hair is cut so short it is ridiculous I would never recommend

Cleanliness concerns - dogs returned dirty/smelling bad(2 mentions)

Both smelling rancid. One dog bed had some vomit in it and the other was wet with urine.

Senior/elderly pet care concerns(2 mentions)

Groomer refused my shitzu poodle because she's 16 yrs old... there's no compassion here.
