What Reviews Say

445 reviews analyzed

Hounds Town Ronkonkoma enjoys overwhelmingly positive reviews with a strong repeat customer base, many clients using the facility for years. The staff receives consistent praise for being friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. Dogs appear genuinely happy and benefit from socialization. However, there are notable red flags including a dog injury requiring stitches, dogs contracting kennel cough/viruses, and occasional cleanliness complaints. Some negative reviews cite lack of transparency about dog care practices and difficulty with the temperament evaluation process. The owner responds professionally to all reviews, including negative ones, and provides detailed explanations. The facility uses a natural pack environment model which some customers love but may not suit all dogs.

Worth noting

Dog injury requiring veterinary care (4 stitches)

My poor dog was BIT, not scratched by another dog and required four stitches to close up the wound on his face that was just an inch from his eye.

Dog became sick (kennel cough/virus) at facility

Our dog contracted a virus from the facility and became very sick with diarrhea, extreme fatigue, urinating herself while laying down and no appetite.

Dog death while in care

Our dog died while in their care.

Facility cleanliness issues - urine, feces, smell

When I picked him up today and looked into the viewing window, the large dogs looked SO sad. They had not a toy in sight. They were all in a pen crying and barking with urine and feces on the floor.

Lack of transparency about dog care (separating dogs without telling owner)

My puppies were being kept by themselves in a room all day & I was never told this would be happening.

Dogs come home dirty or smelly(8 mentions)

He came home smelling pretty bad and his fur feels like it's coated with something.

No facility tours allowed(3 mentions)

Wasn't allowed to see the facility. They showed me 3 camera views on the laptop but weren't open to letting me look at all of the screens/rooms.

Dogs get sick after stays (kennel cough)(3 mentions)

He also had a cough when he came home.

Second chance not given for temperament evaluation(2 mentions)

They call me to tell me they are canceling it because they did not believe my dog would improve.

High pricing(3 mentions)

People are friendly, pricing is high.
