What Reviews Say

288 reviews analyzed

Norwichtown Pet Resort & Spa presents a stark contrast between overwhelmingly positive experiences (75% 5-star reviews) and serious concerns in negative reviews. While most dogs appear happy, the staff is praised as friendly, and the facility offers valued extras like daily report cards with photos, there are disturbing incidents including pet deaths, injuries, and health issues. Recurring complaints include paid services not being delivered, poor communication, pets returning dirty, and kennel cough outbreaks. The new ownership (same parent company as Gagnon's) appears to have improved some operations, but cleanliness and communication issues persist. Potential customers should weigh the many positive experiences against the serious safety and service failures reported.

Worth noting

Pet death during boarding - dog Gracie passed away in their care with no empathy shown to owners

2 days into their stay our pup Gracie passed in their care. A call was made with little to zero empathy or sympathy that she had passed.

Dog ingested paint chips requiring emergency vet visit

After my dog returned home from boarding, he vomited paint chips, which was extremely concerning and promoted a vet visit.

Cat escaped cage and injured paws trying to escape, ripping out nails to the bone

He ripped out almost all of his nails to the bone on his front two paws and several back paw nails as well trying to get back into his cage.

Dogs fed inappropriate food (hot dogs) causing severe illness

They gave my dogs HOT DOGS! My poor pups were so sick and spent $700 in fees and meds from the vet. My dogs were pooping blood for 3 days.

Pet returned with injuries requiring vet care

He had two enormous red areas where he had been licking constantly as well as hives everywhere. He also has a limp that he did not have before.

Paid services not delivered (postcards, treats, cuddles, activities)(6 mentions)

I pay for the more expensive room, with activities and never receive an update. I have never received confirmation or pictures or messages that any of the activities that I paid for were completed.

Poor communication/lack of updates during stays(8 mentions)

When I called for an update mid week the only response I got was that he was 'good' with zero details.

Pets returning dirty/smelling of urine(5 mentions)

My dog is always scared, dirty and paws covered in poop when I pick her up.

Kennel cough/illness contracted at facility(5 mentions)

Our vaccinated dogs contracted kennel cough and we were contacted via voicemail that they needed to be picked up early because 'they weren't doing well.'

Wrong information/poor record keeping(3 mentions)

They had the wrong information in their system, even though we had updated on the phone with them.
