What Reviews Say

39 reviews analyzed

The Dog Sanctuary WI enjoys overwhelmingly positive reviews (34 of 39 are 5-star) with customers praising the caring staff, safe environment, and happy dogs. However, two detailed negative reviews raise serious concerns about staff training, incident transparency (bites/injuries not always reported), and safety protocols. The owner responds professionally to all reviews. The facility excels in customer service and dog happiness but may need improved communication around incidents and potentially additional staff training to address the concerns raised.

Worth noting

Dog used as unofficial 'test dog' for new dog introductions without owner consent

our first dog had been used as the dog that 'tests' new dogs for temperament without our permission, for a long time

Puppy bitten multiple times with permanent ear damage

the ear that was bitten doesn't move as well as the non-bitten ear -- he can no longer lift it and it seems like there's permanent damage

Inconsistent incident reporting to owners

Only once were we notified of a bite - the others we noticed on our own

Staff allegedly not trained in dog behavior, CPR, first aid (except owner)

Other places actually have employees who are trained in several areas such as dog behavior, CPR, and first aid. To my knowledge, the only one with this training is the owner

No cameras for pet parents to monitor dogs

Other places also have cameras to check in on your dog throughout the day, also something TDS does not have

Staff training and expertise concerns(2 mentions)

The staff need training / Their employees don't seem to be trained adequately

Incident notification and transparency(2 mentions)

Only once were we notified of a bite - the others we noticed on our own / when things go south, even once, they don't handle it appropriately

Pack/package expiration policy

if you buy a pack, it will expire if you don't use in in time. This happened to us twice

Staff turnover

I have also noticed is their struggle to keep staff. So many people have been in and out of their doors lately
