What Reviews Say
458 reviews analyzedArchdale Animal Clinic enjoys overwhelmingly positive reviews with a rating distribution heavily skewed toward 5 stars. The clinic excels in compassionate care, particularly for end-of-life services, and has built strong loyalty among long-term customers spanning decades. However, there are serious red flags involving multiple incidents where boarded dogs escaped and were killed on nearby I-85 highway, with owners not notified for 12+ hours - a pattern that represents a critical safety failure. Some customers also report difficulty securing same-day urgent appointments and perceive pricing as high. The owner actively responds to nearly all reviews with professional, empathetic messages.

Dog escaped from boarding and killed on I-85 highway - owner not notified for 12+ hours
โThey lost my dog on a Thursday night, didn't notify me and went home.. Friday morning they come in and decide to notify my family that they lost my dog the night before. I ran around Archdale for 2 hours before I found him scared, in the median on I-85. As I was running up to him, he was so terrified of the cars, he ran into the northbound lanes of the interstate and I watched my dog get killed ten feet in front of me.โ
Pet died after visit without clear explanation - inadequate diagnostics
โAfter a brief look, I was told, 'That looks terrible, here are some antibiotics.' No bloodwork, imaging, or further diagnostics were offered or performed. He passed away on 2/10/26, just one week after that visit, without us ever getting a clear explanation for what was wrong.โ
Misidentified pet gender leading to fatal outcome
โWe got the shots and were told the cat, butterbeer, was a female... 3 days after the initial discoloration in the urine I found butterbeer barely responsive... This is when we found out the shocking news that butterbeer was in fact a male. That the initial spotting and discoloration of urine meant a blockage. This blockage had caused toxic buildup that ended up being fatal.โ
Difficulty getting same-day/urgent appointments(8 mentions)
โwhen one of our dogs needed to be seen on short notice for an injury they said it would be a week to be seen, due to being short staffedโ

โThey are very pricey. Somehow a neuter, microchip, and a shot they called and said he needed for itching came to $503.76โ
Front desk staff attitude(4 mentions)
โThe reception staff is a little rude; they act like they are doing you a favor for taking your call and are rushed and very 'to the point.'โ
Emergency cases turned away(4 mentions)
โmy dog was very sick maybe even dying and y'all would not work her in she is a patient thereโ
