What Reviews Say

417 reviews analyzed

Camp Bow Wow Kansas City Westport is overwhelmingly beloved by dogs and their owners, with an exceptional 95%+ five-star rating. The staff consistently receives praise for genuinely loving dogs, learning their names, and providing individualized attention. The facility excels in cleanliness, convenient hours (until 7:30pm), live camera access, and grooming services (especially groomer April). However, there are serious red flags including multiple reports of dogs being bitten and not being informed, dogs getting sick after boarding, and communication failures. These isolated but severe incidents contrast sharply with the otherwise excellent experience most dogs have, suggesting the facility is generally excellent but has occasional safety and communication breakdowns that need addressing.

Worth noting

Dog bitten twice in 6 months - owner never informed, $500+ vet bills, only apologies given

โ€œMy dog in the past six months has been bitten twice. I was never told about the bite wounds and only discovered them when I got home. Nothing was ever done for me the first or second time. I have over $500 in the two vet visits. All I was given was an apology on both instances.โ€

Dog seriously ill after boarding - vomiting, diarrhea, accidents in crate

โ€œHe was panting heavily and sick to his stomach. He projectile vomited all over my car. He never gets sick like that. Additionally, they said he had pooped on his bed, which is another thing he NEVER does at baseline.โ€

Dog fed wrong food causing allergic reaction, then bitten by another dog

โ€œThey got her mixed up with another dog and fed her food she is allergic to. The next time I dropped off my dog, not 5 minutes later they called me saying I needed to take her to the vet because they allowed another dog to take a bite out of her head.โ€

Dog left in crate for hours, short-staffed, customer hung up on

โ€œI paid for my dog to sit in a crate and it took me calling for them to let him out... I tried explaining to the lady that I was frustrated and hung up on.โ€

Limited outdoor play space(3 mentions)

โ€œOutdoor playing space is pretty limited for them to run around... so less available space in general.โ€

Nail trimming quality inconsistent(3 mentions)

โ€œNot sure I'm impressed with the nail trimming... When trimming my dogs nails, they hurt him badly and didn't even tell me!โ€

Facility size too small(2 mentions)

โ€œIt's a bit small, not much for the dogs to do except walk from one mid size room to another. Outdoor area isnt very large either.โ€

Not suitable for senior dogs

โ€œNot a good fit for senior dogs, in my opinion.โ€
