What Reviews Say
154 reviews analyzedDog-Ma is overwhelmingly beloved by customers with 92% of reviews being 5-star ratings. The facility stands out for its unique outdoor space (rare in DC), exceptionally friendly staff who know dogs by name, and the obvious happiness of dogs who eagerly anticipate visits. While there are a few concerning negative reviews about overbooking, communication failures, and a minor injury, these appear to be rare exceptions. The owner is highly responsive to reviews, maintaining a professional tone. The primary complaints are about pickup/dropoff logistics and occasional pricing concerns, but the overall sentiment is extremely positive with many customers driving long distances and using the facility for years.

Worth noting
Overbooking/capacity concerns - dogs crated for extended periods
โTHEY TAKE SOOO MUCH DOGS THIS PLACE IS OVERBOOK!! THEY LET THEM PLAY IN A PLAYGROUND THEN THEY PUT THEM IN A CRATE... MY DOG WAS THERE FOR 2-3 HOURS... YOU CAN NEVER SEE INSIDE HOW THE PLACE IS STAFF DONT LET U STEP INSIDE.โ
Communication failure on scheduled drop-off
โThey assured us we could drop off our dog at a certain time on the weekend. We showed up on time to drop off the dog. The gate was locked, and no one answered the phone.โ
Early closure without notification
โWe arrived at 5:40pm we found that they had already locked up for the evening without any notifications or a call to let us know.โ
Potential injury to dog without notification
โThey clipped our boys paw with a grinder and didn't tell us about it. We only found out because he was acting scared and found the scrape on his paw.โ
Odor issues (dog urine smell)
โI was greeted with the stench of dog urine. It was a 90ยฐ plus that day and the smell was overwhelming.โ
Pickup/dropoff logistics and access(3 mentions)
โPickup/dropoff is a huge pain in the butt. They need a better system and better access/parking.โ
Value/pricing concerns(2 mentions)
โDog-Ma closes at 7pm on week nights (I wish they were open until 8pm) and I also wish they had discounted packages.โ
Personalized attention during high volume
โIt feels like the sheer volume of clients sometimes makes it difficult to offer a personal experience, like occasional proof of life pics during overnight boarding.โ
